My daughter had two RES turtles, she lost interest now I am taking over. The size is 1 1/2 to 2 inches. We have had them about 2 months.

Lost one already flipped over in the water and drowned, put 1 1/2 times the size of the shell, but I guess was too deep! So only have one left.

Few questions....Since the water is so low, the filter we bought just doesn't to the trick, we clean the water about once a week. We have a 20 gal tank, 1/2 is for basking, the other for water. The remaining turtle does not go into the water all that much.

Also cannot find a heater for the amount of water we have in tank. The tank is near a window and gets sunlight also have a uv lamp for basking. But the water seems cold.

My turtle is not very active. He was eating now has not eaten in about a week??? Afraid going to lose this one too. Giving him the turtle pellets, isn't he to little for anything else. HELP!!!!! Sad

OK LISTEN THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! now ur water temperature will be fine as long as u put the heat lamp partially over the basking area and the water like 1/2 and 1/2 k? u need to make sure that the sun lamp has uvb rays!!!! and make sure u have a night lamp also!! try feeding him tetra fauna dried shrimp!! put a lot of the shrimp in the water at once, like half the bottle, this will pollute the water greatly, but if u want him to live i suggest u do this, and make sure he is in the water, if his shell get's soft he is sick and take him to the vet asap
