| hi. I am a newbie, and I have two small red eared sliders. They are both very tiny, but i have had one about 3-4 weeks longer than the other, (I just got the newer one about 2 days ago) so they are not the same size(the older is about double the size). The older one seems to be "shedding" his skin. It looks like skin, because you can see the "scale look" in the shedding material. I bought a sulfa dip from the store and have been giving him and the new one baths for an hour or so a day, but he dosent look any better. He is very active, and his appetite is VERY good!! So I am wondering if this just means he is growing? His skin looks really good, no soars or anything funky that I can see. I looked in all my books and cant find anything about them shedding their skin and I am concerned. Also, the bigger one is such a piggie, that the smaller new guy isnt getting much food, which concerns me too. I have seperated them at times, but sometimes he just seems so scared to eat...well, thats for another topic board i guess! Any info would be greatly appreciated as I love these little guys! tina |

| thanks for the info...the two turtles are sitting basking together a lot and i think they like each other. I hope the little guy starts to become more secure in the environment and eat more. I am glad to know that the shedding I see on the big guy is him growing, and that means that he is happy and healthy. thanks. tina |
