My turtle wont really eat i only seen him eat once but the pellet stay afloat then the fish eat his pellet and he wont move.... what can i do to get him to start eatting?

Try soaking the turtle food in tuna juice packed in water not oil, I do that for my turtles and they love it. Very Happy

I buy me some tuna next time i am in town i'm leaving tommrow to tampa bay, orlando, cocoa, and st.augstine flordia for the next 10 days so, i miss my boy so much Crying or Very sad

i told my mom everything how to feed him. then when i get back i clean the tank, and buy him some tuna lol.

enjoy ur trip..is he very new? is everything else ok with him? is he swimming or only basking and sleeping?

maybe try warming the water a bit? if the tank is too cold, they won't be able to digest thier food.. and it will rot in their stomach.. and just won't be good Sad

warm water helps with better digestion Smile

also, stray's tuna tip is the best. it works EVERY time Smile

water tempature in the 76s and the 78s which is perfect in my opion and my mom said she saw him eat couple time while i was gone but i am going to try the tuna juice thing.

i soak one his pellet in tuna while he was outside in his DSE and he didnt eat it or anything but i try again later he right now just hanging on top. the water he was on his brand new floating dock.

HI,
I usually dont feed an all fish diet or leave them in with the turtles because they do eat there food. Try feeding the thiner sticks they sink and dont float.
Also you can feed frozen squid. They sell it at the petco or any other store, water turtles love to eat it and its alot healthyer than gold fish. Some also love to eat fruit or raw chicken. Razz

Hi,
Well i am new to this board and also i just got a turtle this weekend. I am so worried though because i got it saturday and it just does not want to eat. What do i do??? Sad

Is it normal??

i am not sure my turtles ate as soon as i got them maybe if the place that u got it from just got the turtle and it is not used to eating yet is it a baby and maybe it just isn't used to it's new enviorment yet give time if it still dosen't eat ask a proffesinal or take it to the vet good luck Razz

well i just got from work and i gave her a little food sticks and it ate almost half... i hope it eats more. Hey does any body know how you can tell if your turtle is a boy or a girl Mad

u r so welcome u cant tell if it is a boy or a girl until it gets about 4 or 5 inches then a boy has a longer pontier thicker tail than a female good luck Wink

and i was upset when i got my turtles because i didnt know what to name them but if u r having the same debate give it a unasex name u know it goes with a boy or a girl my turtles names r cloud and angle i hope u find out soon Smile

you have two?? cool i could only afford one cuz you know i had to buy the aquarium and all that stuff... so i still need to decorate its little home soon but it'll have to wait until my next pay check hehehe... i am so excited though!! I was getting worried cuz it did not want to eat... but well at least it ate something today better than nothing right?
