the filter should be 3x the size of the tank cz they're made for fish tanks but turtles are very messy and need stronger ones
check this about filtration http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Articles/filtration.htm _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo

| Thanx dixieee but I was thinking of a good pond filter model or if you know a good article on them cz I doubt any tank filter is strong enough(well, exept EHEIM) to do 200-300gal |

oops sorry i missed that
here's something i found from the link:
" Pond Filters – Frankly, out of my league. Large Poly-Bead filters come to mind. Pond filters are often sold in modular form; you can buy the media compartment here, the pump there, etc… Some people like complete ‘all in one box’ systems so make sure you know what you’re getting. And that your system won’t require you to do any custom plumbing (PVC pipe, sealants, etc…) Remember that pond filters are often designed for outdoor use so check those noise levels before you buy."
this is one link about pond filtration basics http://www.tortoise.org/general/pondfilt.html
this is another thing:
"For example, a 200 gallon pond should have at least a 400 gph pump. There should be a good pre-filter like a sponge or floss. This will need to be cleaned as often as it clogs, perhaps daily. The biological filtration should be adequate to keep ammonia and nitrite levels undetectable. An example setup might be a Pondmaster 700 (700 gph pump) in a 200-400 gallon pond. Remember, a 700 gph pump only pumps at 100 gph if it is old or clogged. If you can change about 10-20% of the water every week or two, that should be adequate if you do not have more than one turtle per 50 gallons or so. It is okay to change up to 50% of the water at one time as long as the temperature is close and proper amounts of de-chlorinator are added." from http://www.fishpondinfo.com/turpond.htm
and this is about building a filter by urself..i personally like it http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Articles/pond.htm _________________ Wed 10/27/2004 is the worst day..i lost my best friend Leo
