I've had alott of people tell me differant ways to sex a turtle, but doesn't really make sence. How do you know if there males or females, and what if they are babies.

they say it's almost impossible to tell when they are babies although i can
see it clearly in my babies Surprised

anyways, males have longer tails and nails..females have short nails and short stubby tails

Man I think I have all males, how do you find out cause I want to get a male and female that are about the same age... can they bread being one young one old?

they can't be the same age cz females mature earlier..u can get an older male so their sizes are closer cz females grow bigger

Ok so my male outside the big one is ok? to bread with a smaller one when it gets bigger?

a bit bigger or smaller won't harm cz the female will be at the bottom and u don't want the big guy to squish her that's why by nature they grow bigger in size..anyways, he chooses for himself Wink

lol they usually pick their own mates out.

but i think i'm going to have to seperate my babies once they get older.. the male, rex keeps harrassing the females.

that's one thing you do have to look out for though with the two genders together.. the male will chase the females around and stick his hands in her face always.. lol

Well it turns out that the one I thought was a Female, turned out to be a Male.......

Jan is a man, we were watching them this morning and he was at the bottom of the tank when something poped out, turned out it was his bait and tackle if you know what I mean.

I first though that Jan was female because of growing much faster and larger then Gogo, but Jan also has long claws and did the dance.

I think Gogo is a girl, she has short claws but is a good bit smaller than Jan the Man.

Yes it was kinda like a mushroom and it went back in underneath the tail.

If it happens while he is in the water he shouldn't need any help getting it back in, but if it does happen outside of the water, you need to keep it wet so it doesn't dry out. Smile

I am so glad my MALE turtle is already past that now my baby is maturing shedding skin and skutes. I HOPE SHE IS A SHE! I DO NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH THAT!

It is not an age thing, if your male is a male, he will go through that whether or not he has a female around, it is just the way things are Very Happy
