I don\'t really know how to explain this, but a lot of times my RES will kind of cough or something and a lot of bubbles come out. When this happens, it\'s kind of like the air coming out pushes her back some. She does it often and I don\'t know if something is wrong with her. Have any of you experienced this with your turtle or know what it means? I would appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks.

Sounds like she may have a RI, you might want to have her checked out by a vet.

i wouldn\'t say maybe.

even if it\'s not a respiratory infection, she is definitely sick and will need to see a vet asap. especially since (like you said) her coughing is frequent.

Is your turtle showing any other signs of illness. Listing to one side while swimming, lack of appetite or basking excessivly? The reason I am asking is Stew used to do the whole bubble cough thing, actually he was spitting. But when he was under water it would come out as bubbles more often than not. I aslo have one that coughs. She is not sick she just has a reaction to floride in the water. So I have to use a reverse osmosis filter for their water.

She used to kind of swim to one side (almost in a circle) and it scared me, but she has not done that in a long time. She looks perfectly healthy. I\'m just worried about the bubble thing. She had never done this before, but has done it a noticeable amount in the last two months. I don\'t know if it\'s just the pollen or a real problem. She\'s my first turtle so I\'m not familiar with the signs of sickness.
