| I have 5 turtles total; 4 RES and 1 Cooter, I checked out the site tonight b/c my oldest RES Jasmine started doin the weird hand wiggling thing. I think she/he might be trying to mate but I don\'t know if it\'s a girl or a boy. Ive tried checking the belly and all of that but they all feel and look the same. Are there any other ways to tell? Jasmine also has longer claws than any of the others. Do I need to seperate her (him) from the other four? |

well the males have longer tails and longer nails and the females tails and nails are shorter. also the bottom of the males is indinted so that it can fit right onto the females back. the bottom of the females sticks out for her to hold eggs. _________________ im the proud owner of Shelldon. He is a african side-neck and ive had em for lil over a year |

| It is difficult to tell the sex of a turtle until they are about 5 inches (approx 5 years old). |
