i have a male red painted turtle who\'s shell is about 4.5 inches and female RES who shell is 3.3 inches
1.can they mate?
2.how mature do they have to be and size to be to mate?
3.how would you know if she is pregnant?
4.and how long will she be pregnant and then lay
5.and where would she lay

i dont think hey can mate just yet. the femal has to be bigger. and the male i thinm could mate, maybe just a lil more growth. they arent pregnant that long, i forget how long and i dont wanna give u the rong #. i think 1-4 weeks. ssomething im between

okay,your turtles arnet ready to mate give them about a year.there is no actual way to tell if the female is pregnant but you would know anyway because you would see them mating the female would lay her eggs in 1-2 weeks you would need a seperate tank with a few innches of dirt or sand and you would need to incubate the eggs for at least 4-6 months. hope that helped-gl
