I am sooo confused. How do I know the difference between all those different kinds of map turtles? I have a baby map turtle, it\'s shell is tan, with orange strips, it\'s skin is dark, almost balck also with orange stripes. I don\'t know what kind it is. Does anyone know?

Maps usually have yellowish greenish markings on the head and legs, and have map like markings on their shells. They usually have a ridge going down the center of the shell.

There are some sites that have dichotemous keys (lists of characteristics to choose yes or no that narrow down the species.) If you search for \"turtle dichotemous key\" you should be able to access one of those lists. There are certain shapes and locations of markings that distinguish the species. Good luck!
