I thought there were some pretty interesting names out there and I got a little curious...so, what\'s the story, behind the name?
(I named mine after famous, retired whales from seaworld...I don\'t know why)

My daughter kept telling people \"Joe called\" and then we would say \"Joe who?\" she would answer \"Joe Mama\" so that is how Joe Mama got her name (sorry she was just a kid!!)

Cecil got his name because he looked so grumpy & Cecil seemed to fit (I apologize to all the Cecils out there!)

Fazsha came from the movie Goldmember - when Goldmember tells Austin Powers \"I am your father\" it sounds like \"I am your fazhsa\"

Moley got his name also from the movie Goldmember - when Austin says \"moley moley moley\"

My first turtles name is shellby i named it that b/c at first i couldn\'t tell wether it was male or female so i named it shellby cause i think it\'s a muatual name male/female and because it has shell in it from the way i spell it so yeah and the second one was marvin from marvin the marshin but i changed to Roni from pasta roni just cause i think that it is cute... Smile

My two turtles names are Jared and Charly! Not the best names I have every came up with I admit but then again I didn\'t come up with them! Jared has his name because when my friend (Jared) was slightly intoxicated . . (haha) he was looking at the turtles and i had just got them so they never had names yet and he was very persuasive to name one after him haha then i wasn\'t really going to but i told him so many times that his name was jared I started actually calling the turtle that so it just stuck.

And Charly while my 3 year old nephew named her that and i think it could be a little girl ad I love that name for a girl as well as a guy so I figured I could loose!

I have a reeve\'s turtle and a red eared slider, their names are Ma\'El and Ra\'Jal
I like the SF Show Earth: Final the Conflict (ma\'el)....
And Ra\'Jal just came to me...Sometimes I won\'t name a turtle because I think that a name will come to you at a certain moment..
To me, the names are very personal.

Ahh.. stu.. heh.. I got her at the bloomsburg fair last year. She kept flipping herself over, and couldn\'t get up (before I read about proper setups and all) So she started out \"pug the retarded turtle\" Then I decided it didn\'t fit her, and set out for a new name. We were joking one night about a friend of ours named Stu being really indecisive about something. I made the comment that I should name the turtle after him since he sounded like the turtle trying to flip herself over.

My husband laughed is tushkas off and started calling her Stew. I didn\'t much have a choice after that. It didn\'t matter what else I came up with. So I decided to compromise and spell it w/ a U Smile

i got my first turtles name, Bob, because i always liked penguins and i drew one one day and out of the inner most part of my brain i wrote bob underneath the little drawing and stuck it in my wallet, that was over a year ago and its still there so i attached to that name. My other turtles name is Shirley, i have no idea i just thought \"whoa, bob and shirley, sounds like an awesome pair Smile

Well, I have 2 RES and so far only 1 has a name, the boy. I named him \"Chompers\" because when I go to feed him, he always winds up nicking my fingers when he takes the pellets. The girl is really quiet and tranquil, and she never bites me so I don\'t know what to name her.

My two turtles are named Shady and Sunshine.

Shady got his name first - from the minute I put him in the tank he was this very active, crazy, kamikaze type so I named him Shady after Slim Shady...Eminem.

Sunshine was the opposite, just very mellow and hanging out and kinda hippie-like so her name just came to me and seemed appropriate.

I have a thing about my turtle\'s having names starting with \"Z\"...so I looked in a dictionary and found \"Zellah\"-meaning she who is without nothing....which is quite fitting...
and I bought my bf a turtle for his birthday and he knew he had to have it start with a \"Z\" so he just called him Zeus...to rule over my turtle...haha

My turtle\'s was named by my cousin. She named her Timmi cause when we were little someone would sing us a song that said \"I had a little turtle his name was tiny Tim. I put him in the bath tub to see if he could swim.\" Cute huh.

I have 3 turtles right now (map,res,regular slider i think)and only 2 of them have names. The res\'s name is floyd because i like the band Pink Floyd, and the map is named tortuga, cuz that is just a plain awesome name! Smile

And i think im gonna name the slider Pillow, because the other turtles just climb all over it like a pillow. But Im open to suggestions by anyone!

I decided on the name Shelby before I had even bought him (or her, how can you tell when it\'s just a baby?). Shelby is the only pet in the house that is mine, mine and only mine =). We have two dogs, Jake and Penny, five cats, Cleo, Gizmo, Sandy, Maddy and Whiskey and three goldfish, Big Daddy (he\'s 6\" long), Freckles (he\'s a shubunkin) and Silver (he\'s an albino goldfish). This place is a zoo at feeding time! =)

I bought my RES while on vacation so i named one Cali - short for California because that is where I was and the other is Faera short for Fahrenheit becasue it was so hot the water in there 1/2 gallon tank kept evaporating - I know the spelling is different - but people kept thinking of Farrah Faucett so I changed the spelling.
