When and where did you find it? If you took it from a pond or a lake, you should bring it back and let it live its life in the natural habitat. You also need to be careful, because depending on where you are from, some places have laws against taking turtles from the wild.
In order to help with identification, can you post a picture? |

Well, if you do not have webbed feet then you have a land turtle. The most common is a box turtle. However it does not sound like one.
Regardless, if you have a land turtle here is some information for you.http://www.allturtles.com/care_sheets/land_turtle_care.php
I am going to drop over onto another board. There is someone overthere with a box turtle. She may be able to give you some more information.
Good Luck. _________________

Sorry about the confusion, I had just read another post about someone who had found their turtle. I got a bit mixed up when I posted to you! |

Well, I\'m stumped. It sounds to me like a spotted. What size is it? Juvenile spotteds don\'t develop all of their spots at once, and even adults sometimes can have very few spots.
If it is a spotted, and your boyfriend got it from the wild, that is a BIG no-no. Spotteds are a protected species and it is illegal for them to be removed from the wild.
My suggestion is to keep checking turtle pics throughout the internet. See if you can find a spotted turtle pic that looks like your turtle. _________________ Adopt a turtle - Save a life !!

another thing, the shell on his belly (plastron), is it completely flat, is it a circle/oval or a cross shape. Does it hinge up at all (like a box turtle plastron?) _________________ Adopt a turtle - Save a life !!
