HOLY COW. your turtle looks just like mine, and I have the same question. All I know about mine is that it is some kind of map turtle. I have checked numerous dichotemous keys to try to figure out which species of map turtle it is, and I have yet to figure it out. I was told that mine might be an Alabama map turtle, but the person who gave it to me was not so sure about it. From what I have researched, it also looks like a common map turtle.
How long have you had it? I have had mine for about a year and a half or so.

Hello Snoopy! I have had my turtle almost 2 years... but I think the age of her is 3 years old. I am from Sweden, so if she has travelled from Alabama she has travelled a long way Smile

I call her \"Dino\" because she looks like a little Dinosaur

What exactly makes it a mississippi map turtle? Are there any special marks to look for? I tried to post my pics on this site, but was unable to email them to the website administrator.

I was told my turtle is aa Alabama map, and it pretty much looks like the one from wattsug, it just has brighter yellow markings.

I finally got my pics up, but I am having trouble accessing the site. If you can get on, you can see my turtle. Unfortunately, you can only view the small pics, I can\'t get in to fix that.

Now I am more confised than ever!! My turtle does not look like an Alabama map at all, but I have checked other sites that have dichotemous keys. According to the keys, I am down to a few categories, including false map, and mississippi map. I am sure that there are also variations within the species, so who knows!!!

yes, it is a mississippi map, i have the same ome also, he is only 2 1/2 inches long though.

About how large do they get? How do I find out if Snoopy is a male or a female?

I was given this turtle by someone who decided that he didn\'t want it anymore, and I was given no info on it.

I agree with most people that it is a mississippi map turtle! If you go to this site i have given you it give the info of the size of an adult!! hope that helps!!
