well, i cant say its not identified. its a eastern painted turtle. i was just wandering, whats the average size for a full grown painted? the thing is ive found 2 of these in my lake, one was about 11 inches from front to rear carapace, and the other was roughly 14-16 inches, these were LARGE turtles, i know they are painters, but does anyone know the record or anything?

I heard that the maximum size is about 11 or 12 inches. This goes for the female, the male often remains smaller and will develope long claws. In captivtity though , they usually remain smaller about 7 inches, and the males a bit smaller..
I hope this helps...
