| I've read lots of discussion about feeding Red Ear slider veggies and other stuff, So far I have only fed them stick food and dried shrimps in water. Can I put food in a little bowl on the dry land part of my tank. Or do RES only eat while submerged in water since they are aquatic turtles? |

RES are more apt to eat in the water. In other words they are just more comfortable. So sure just put it all in there...that's what i do. _________________ Brandy |

From what I understand, RES can swallow ONLY when under water. They can take bites on land but MUST be under water to actually swallow their food. _________________ My turtle, Jelly, eats too much. =) |

Thanks, I think my turtles are not eating because they're jeolous of my new fishes. My turtle's names are Leroy and Jackson, they like motown.

Not so. RES can eat out of the water. They are just more comfy in the water. I've watched mine many a time eat right off of their rocks! _________________ Brandy |

| I'm pretty sure turtles choke if they don't eat their food underwater. |

| My turtles are not big fans of veggies but I have seen them pick up food from a little dish that is on thier beach. But almost every time they grab a piece and go in the water then come back out for more. |

It's obvious that some don't watch their turtles.
I watch mine closely. I like to watch their habits and other ways they do things. I just happen to know they can eat out of water because some of their dry food landed on their basking area. They went after it and ate it there. RES are just more comfortable in the water when they eat, but they can eat out of the water. _________________ Brandy |
