It's probably because the whole forum is screwed up. Everything's been slow lately. Neutral Anyways, nice pictures! I don't think I've seen that kind of turtle before.

Are you talking about the pink headed ORNATE diamondback terrapin? All are dbt's. This is the reason I love them so much. They come in so many different flavors within sub-species. Im also learning that they can b difficult to tell apart sometimes.

Those are lovely DBTs, MastinoMike! Healthy and cute. In our state, they can be sold for food, but illegal to keep for pet, which is a shame because they have great personalities.

They have lots of personality. I am officially a dbt addict. lol Check with your state dnr they might just require a permit? My permit only cost me 25 bucks I think, Im in md. There is always a way around some things just depends on the amount of paperwork u need to file. I just aquired all my dbt's over the last 3 months. Ive been lucky so far with no problems. All are cb raised in fresh. 1 of them wont eat pellets. I have 7 between 2 300g stocks.

Seven? Wow. I don't think I could have more than just one at the moment. Maybe if I had a pond setup I'd be okay with more. Are they ever over-whelming for you?

I have 2 large alligator snappers and 7 dbt, soon to have more dbt. Larger tanks , tubs or ponds are much easier to keep up and the turtles are happy. I dont find it hard or overwhelming at all. My set ups are not made for display. They are very simplistic and made for easy water changes. Everything is in an open unfinished basement just for me.(man cave). Ive kept alot of stuff from poison arrow frogs to Neapolitan mastiffs and I find turtles to be the easiest for me.

Thats a good question. I dont know. lol Im looking for some really nice hatchlings at the moment and a adult male cb concentric would b nice to pair up with some of the females I have. Planning on getting some ornate hatchlings in the spring if I can find some. Eventually I will need a couple of large outdoor ponds. Ill post some pics when I get a few more.

I love baby turtles. Smile It's a weakness of mine. They're just soooo cute! Hopefully you have success with finding a male and everything. Good luck.

Those are beautiful turtles & would love to see more pictures of your whole set up! Slightly off-topic - do you know what species is the U of M mascot? It looks scarier than some snappers and would have terrified the Towson tiger!

U of M is a diamondback terrapin. I have a breeding set up and the other is a grow out for my sub adults. Nothing pretty at all just xtremely functional. I got my set up idea from diamondbackterrapin.com, I use 300 instead of 150 stock tanks.

The blue tote in the corner is a large gravity fiter I made. I also have a uv sterilizer on both tanks. Ill have to take some pics of the other set up tomorrow.

I've heard of many 'man-caves' - home brewing, hunting, Star Wars collection, but not one for turtles! Sounds really cool. Is the sand on the platform the nesting / egg burial area? How deep is it? I'm trying to figure out what I need to do for Phil.
