| Someone here recently had the same but I can't find the post. It is not a gopher tortoise. It looks like the leopard tortoise that comes from Africa. |

That's not a gopher tortoise, nor is it a leopard tortoise. I think it is an African Spur Thigh Tortoise. Somebody probably released this guy. I would put up some ads and ask people if they have lost a tortoise. Don't let them be thieves, though, as some people will probably try to take the turtle when they are not the owner. Ask them how they take care of the tortoise, as this species is a bit large. _________________ R.I.P. Steve Irwin |

The man at the pet food store told us what she is. She's for sure not from around here.. lol. I guess these guys are a little expensive too so we will carefully try to find her owner. If we have no luck finding her owner I think we may become new turtle parents, she is kind of cute!!! |

Well if you really do have to keep the tortoise as a pet, please do a lot of research. These guys can easily grow to about three feet long, so a glass terrarium is not going to be any good. In fact, you shouldn't keep tortoises in glass terrariums because they do not know there is glass there, and they rub their noses raw on the glass trying to get out. _________________ R.I.P. | Chances are that this one escaped, so please be diligent in seeking the owner. I'd be so heartbroken if one of my little ones was wandering the streets alone. These guys make great pets, and when they get larger they are harder to lose. |
