What and how often are you feeding him? They need a LOT of calcium. It could also be a mineral deposit buildup. _________________ R.I.P. Steve Irwin |

to me it does not look like he has shell rot. If it is calcium deposits on his shell you can try washing his shell with plain white vinegar and a toothbrush. Don't get it in his eyes. If that helps clear it up then you probably do have mineral deposits or calcium deposits on his shell. If that is the case then you need to find some water conditioners to help cleanup the water. You know stuff that like fixes tap water they sell it in the fish isle.
Again, I think his shell looks normal and that he does not have shell rot. But my turtle has never had shell rot it only had a very small little patch on his shell that went away. _________________ 2 RES: Bowser Male 1.75yrs, Peach Female .75yrs

I would cut off feeding the lettuce and cabbage. Lettuce will lead to calcium deficiencies because it halts the reptile's ability to absorb calcium.
I agree with most of Tutsbear said. My turtle also has a mineral deposit buildup on his shell. When his shell gets dry after basking, it turns white. The ''white'' is the mineral deposit. I am currently using school scissors to gently scrape away the deposit. _________________ R.I.P. Steve Irwin |

strawberries, flower petals, carrots, cucumber, and grape tomatoes (cut in half) can all be used to help supplement your turtles diet. At least I feed my turtle all of these things. I didn't know about the lettuce thing, but i also have never fed it to my turtle. Rocky might know more about this than i do. _________________ 2 RES: Bowser Male 1.75yrs, Peach Female .75yrs
