So, after a vet visit it was found that my smaller RES was a girl(Cecil ->Cecilia) - I had assumed the larger was a female and smaller was a male. The larger(Danielle ->Daniel?) hasn\'t been to the vet for determination of sex, but seemed to be doing the mating dance. It was shaking it\'s claws for 5 minutes straight on one day. They are approximately the same age (at least 5-6 yrs), Cecil is ~5 inches in length, and Danielle is ~7 inches in length.
Danielle keeps biting at everything, and keeps getting behind Cecil and biting on Cecil\'s shell. I haven\'t seen a penis appear yet, and it looks like Cecil is pretending to be asleep half the time.
So, their tails look about the same size, and neither of them seems to have a more curved carapice than the other. Nor do either of them have a pointier beak. Do I have two females here, and does one seem to take transgender roles? Or is Danielle trying to intimidate Cecil?
Thanks!

is there a difference in the length of their claws? are their cloaca openings the same distance from the end of the tail?if so, i\'d say yes you have 2 females. _________________ proud owner of 5 painteds. 1 baby- Finn, 2 females- Big Boy(named before we knew she was a female) & Hidey, 2 males- Baby & Freddy |
