see i own a 5 inch red eared slider. ok i left it inside the bath tub since i didnt want it to stay in the water for weeks you know to soak off. anyway, it kept hissing at me when i put my finger near it it would try to bite you or open its mouth then close it. so, i didnt know that my baby brother was in the bathroom i was on my pc and well.................... he picked it up im guessing. he tried to hit its head since when i hold it my baby bro tries to hit its head you know?. so anyway he hit its head and instead of getting hit in the head the turtle snapped on my baby brothers finger. and all i heard was a big scream from my hallway and a loud snap before since im near my bathroom. he wasnt bleeding but my mom washed it and threatened me on throwing it away. well has anyone else gooten bitten by heir red eared sliders before? |

well i sertenly have.. it hurts very much... so how big is it? the bigger they get the stronger the bite... but its not the turtles fault that it was scared and was about to get hit in the head by something that looked like a worm... _________________ Tara Dakota

its about 1/2 cm across in diameter. not really big but it doesnt seem to be bleeding it just broke but not very deep. the wound is healed up pretty good but now he doesnt even want to touch those turtles no more. still i know how it feels because ive been bitten when i feed her which doesnt end well. but going back to the point he does seem to be fine but im still worried for the bite _________________ 2 red eared sliders

Well, your brother just learned. Not like he wasn't asking for it, tapping the turtles head. Cruel...
"Turtles get big and bite."
The hissing is a defense mechanism. It does mean they're scared/not happy. They bite lots of things, why wouldn't they bit your finger? Tucker only has bit me once, trying to get a worm in my finger and over-shooting.
What do you feed her that she bites you? |

its not really what i feed her its how i feed her that she bites me. i sometimes get a turtle pellet and hold it on my 2 fingers and wait till she see's it. but when she does she goes too far and snaps some part of my finger _________________ 2 red eared sliders

| Just drop the pellets in. They shouldn't need to be fed hand-to-mouth. |
