How long should the RES stay in the water?

Is it ok to add water once a week without washing the tank, if the tank isnt dirty?

Uh...

Sliders will spend most of their time in the water. They need a spot to get out and bask and dry off but they are primarily aquatic turtles. Their habitat should be primarily aquatic.

Some more description of the current set-up you have may be helpful.

My turtles spend almost ALL of their time in the water. They seem to be afraid of air or something, i mean, they'll come up for air...but they wont go to a dry area. Very odd, but they are big and healthy...so oh well!
