My red-eared slider turtle currently lives outside..I've had him for two days now, but he isn't eating at all. I'm thinking the waters probably just too cold, and currently here in California we aren't really getting any sunlight...should I let him live inside for a while? I don't have a heater or anything right now, but in the wild aka: the park (one of my realitives gave him to us after capturing him from a park) how would they stay warm? Normally it is pretty hot here but right now water can get to 40 degrees outside. what can I do? i used to have an igauna but his heating lamp and pad are gone..I think they were sold when we moved.
Thanks for listening,but I'm kinda new to turtle-keeping |

1st of all you should NEVER capture animals from the wild! 2nd, You should raise the water temp or bring him inside. 3rd he isn't eating because he is new to your home and area.

Or you could just put him back. I'm sure he'll appreciate being kept in captivity after growing in the wild.
If you insist on keeping him, which really, please, don't, then go HERE http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/caresheet-red_ear_slider.htm right now and start doing your research. Turtles require a lot more care and stuff than you would expect... |

| Well, he has already been in captivity for like 3 months already, my uncle gave him to me after having his 1st kid. The "smart one" never told me though how to take care of it..he is really bad at answering the phone, I've tried like 7 times..I want to take him back, turtles are very complicated guys to me, but I'm not sure if he will still be able to adapt to his envoirment..can he? |
