I've had this baby turtle about three days and it so timid and shy I can't even move toward the cage with out it freakin...i put a pink rock in there with it so it would have something to get tracksion and it wont go over it it just trys to swim thru it...as well as my tank is kidney shaped and has some tight squeezes, but i keep the water warm and offer him food, but he runs like a mad man..when will this stop and how can i help the guy? Any tips? I mean i know reptiles aren't animls to be cuddled, (no irony intended) but i'd like to hold him and play with him..please help. Plus how can I make him more comfy with out spending alot and for a low budget heat lamp will a normal desk lamp work? I know my st ups not the greatest, but do you think the little guy is happy? he's only about an inch...thanks so much i need help. |

Hi Misha,
It can be tough to spend the money a turtle required and easy to justify not doing it, but like you posted in your other thread this guy should probably be given away to a good home... the tank is really not suitable, and even if you use a desk lamp you need a specific kind of lights. Food, filter, so many things... you can keep a turtle fairly cheap but it doesn't sound like you want to or can spend the money required, and that's understandable, so I hope you find somebody to give him to.
Best of luck. |

It's not that I want to justify not doing it it's just I really didn't expect to find this little one, but how can I leave him when I knew that lady would have killed him her tanks was just a big poo filled bowl...how do I keep it fairly cheaply? everyone says it cost so much and I spent my grocery budget to get the guy what he has. I'm working on if nothing else i can buy a square tank, might not be 10 gallon, but it'll at least be bigger and more suitable..will that help any..at least until he finds a better home? even if it kills me i know it's best... |
