you can feed them until they stop eating that is what you are supposed to do because they know how much they can eat b ut when they stop eating take any extrafood out it dirties the tank and if the turtle eats when it had stopped a few minutes before there is the possibility of choking

Sigh.

Your turtles will beg regardless of whether or not they are hungry. That's what they will do. Don't cave in and feed them everytime they beg, but it sure is cute and hard to resist. =)

There are differing ideas on "how much is enough," such as the "size of their head" deal. I tend to feed Tucker until he stops eating, which is about 30 pellets of Repto-min right now supplemented with regularly offered romaine lettuce and usually a couple snails and fish in the tank if he wants to get his own food. I give him the repto-min every other day, he is old now, with small snacks the "off" days. Your guys sound young based on the size and how much to eat, so likely require daily feeding... Try the "how much can they/will they eat in five minutes" routine, perhaps.

A good article on this topic is here: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Articles/howmuchhowoften.htm
