Are you in Florida or close there abouts? It looks like a Florida box turtle. It might be an Ornate to but either way you need to get it out of a sand and water enviroment. The shell will rot.
Turtles take commitment and money. To get a proper setup for this little guy you will spend anywhre from $100-$350. You also need to commit the next at least 15 years to caring for it. Turtles are long lived animals. If that sounds like something you are willing and want to do then go to the top of the page to the little green buttons. Go to setup and supplies and you can look at Land turtle setups both indoor and outdoor. _________________

| He is fine. It takes them awhile to adjust to a new enviroment before they will eat. |

Looks like there are Ornate Box turtles in Missouri.

Like Deesygirl said, before you take turtles out of the wild or buy them as a pet, it's important to know how much of a commitment they are. A lot of turtles will only eat if their living conditions are perfect and there is nothing around them to cause stress.
There are bunch of care sheets on box turtles floating around the web that will give you some idea what this turtle needs to survive in your home. Best thing might be to release him in a safe place close to where you found him. He's really a beautiful turtle! _________________ I brake for turtles! |
