My Red Eared Slider has a few problems. Can you help me?
1: He is always going down to the bottom of the tank and ''eating'' the gravel.
2: The basking rock is held on the side of the tank with suction cups, he goes behind the rock, under the suction cups, and stays there to where he gets stuck behind it.
Can you help me with him? |

My opinion is gravel looks nice, but is a pain to clean. I don't think the turtles care much either way if you have gravel or not, so it makes your job alot easier. |

I agree about the bigger rocks, preferably ones that are bigger than their heads. They can get stuck in their intestines and could die from it. _________________

Tucker did that when he was small all the time. I worried about him but he was always able to get free. Also, it was cute. Even though he can fit in the bars of his current (larger) platform he does not. I have gathered that turtles seem to like being able to feel "hidden" or almost "cozy." Tucker has lots of surface plants to hide in and a root to play in as well, so perhaps the bars were the best he used to have. Unsure.
Do check on him from time to time to ensure he can get free. If he is not in danger, then he is probably fine. That is my experience. |

The tutrle eats rocks for its digestion. And its normal for the turtle to do that (hide behind the suction cupped basking rock) if your do not have a place for iot to hide in. _________________
glitter-graphics.com |
