I used to have turtles when I was little. 22 in fact, in a 60 gallon tank, all different species, from yellow-bellied sliders, musk turtles, soft shells, alligator snapping turtles, etc. I was young, like 6, naive, didn't know much, and sadly they're all dead now (circumstances I couldn't control with the weather and them being incompatible with eachother) my dad was a cheapskate and didn't like having anything fancy for the turtles, and rarely replaced the filter because he thought it was too expensive, so he'd have me manually drain the water and clean the poop, etc., it was a nightmare. I'm sure for my turtles too.
I'm older now, and I'll be moving out in a year or so, and I was thinking of getting back into turtles, but this time, unlike my dad, I won't be a cheapskate, and want to devote my time and money to a few of my own.
So I want to go all out in a tank set up. Something extravagant, I'm thinking something like this:
It's about 18" x 18" by 24"
Is that good enough? Though I was wondering what kind of setups you guys have, and I really wanted something neat and beautiful. Mist waterfall, fake plants, rocks, etc., something I never could provide my old pets with...
If you can, link me to some recommended tank set ups
I also would like to know what I must include for the care of my turtles. Tank necessities, etc.
I wanted to buy two or three Diamondback Terrapins (I never got them when I was little and I wanted them so badly). Could anyone tell me a place where I can buy them? Online is fine. A store would be dandy as well. I live in Texas.
So can someone help me? Thanks |
