You may have read i feed my turtle in a seperate area, to avoid uneatten food to get trapped under things, and to have less waste production inside the tank.

but i still am interested in a filter, i have no clue how much they cost... and ive read the kind you all use...

well i just have one turtle smaller than my palm, the tank is in my room so i would hope to not have a noisey filter.

what would you suggest, and price ranges would help!

Thanks, -JAMIE

how much are you looking to spend for your filter?

as i mentioned to you in the other thread that i have a fluval 4 plus filter and a fluval 405 canister filter. in reality i dont really need to have 2 filters set up in the tank since the canister filter is sufficient but it never hurts to keep the tank clean. however, i do understand how important it is to a filter and they are so expensive and i've always had a open heart to helping others as i would have appreciated the same so i'm willing to sell you my 4 plus filter since its only 3 months old.

if you are interested then let me know.

otherwise, another suggestion that might work around your area is checking out craigslist. www.craigslist.org and go to Minnesota and your nearby area and do a search under filters and see if anyone is selling any used filters in your area for a decent price.

Best of luck Smile

The best filter really depends on the size of your tank and your budget. You possibly may not be able to afford the "best"

It is generally recognized in the industry that the "best" filters for tanks over 75 gallon would have to be Ocean Clear or Nu-clear modular filters. They are no bio load filter systems and last forever with low maintenance BUT the cost of a complete system with a high head pump will cost $600-$800 dollars.

I have used a Ocean Clear system for years on a 200 gallon salt tank with no problems but the cost is out of alot of peoples price range.

If you have a tank between 30-75 gallons, for under $200.00 Fluval and the new Marineland canisters are good choices.

Under 30 gallons, Penguins are a solid choice. You can pick them up for under $60.00.

Hope this helps.
