I've read that its not good to set up a turtle tank with fake plants because at times they have been known to chew on them and the plastic and cause harm to the turtle.
I desperately wanted plants to decorate the tank and i was told by several people and guys at the pet store that you can use algae plants. they can actually eat those and its also good if you go away for the weekend and dont have anyone to feed your turtles. they can eat the plants when they get hungry. _________________ **Plasmik**

use plastic plants like swords cause the fake leaves are pretty big and thick. anything like ludwidgia or cabomba and hornwort are questionable because they can tear off small pieces.
live plants will probably not survive with RES. i put a large assortment of live plants in my old RES tank and they systematically tore threw and ate them all. though anacharis did survive a while. under high light, the anacharis might actually grow fast enough to level out the turtles destruction. water sprite is also a nice plant that grows quickly and turtles love eating it. |
