| actually... if your turtle has never lived in the wild... putting it into the wild is a pretty sure whay of killing the turtle. Second... petsmart and petco won't take in pets... your best choice would be find an independent petstore that will take in animals from people who cant care for them anymore... chains like petsmart and petco wont .... or place an ad in the paper and see if anyone is interested in them... |

I live in Florida. Yea, tons of turtles
There is a lake with TONS of turtles nearby me, but I don't want to release them because I don't want them to die.
I can't keep them because now I have 6 & my family complains that they smell (I don't think they do) & the costs are getting REALLY high.
So, I need to find a place to give them to (either a pet store, or someone who really wants turtles )
But... because there is a lake CHOCK FULL of turtles nearby, the often slide through a hole in my fence & lay their eggs in my backyard. Then, the baby turtles end up in my pool. So, I remove them, & (probably not a smart choice) "rehab" them (feed them, shelter them). I just recently found a new baby, which is the 6th of my turtles, & no one in my neighborhood wants him.
I really love turtles, but the expenses are killing me. So I really want to find a home for them where they will be the happiest! |

| I had to give up my male RES recently because he became to agressive and was beating up on my female RES. A local pet store that specializes in turtles took him and will find him a good home. |

| Perhaps you can ask your vet if anyone is looking to adopt a turtle. My vet told me someone came in asking for turtles. |
