| I have two baby red eared sliders for around two months now. =) one boy and one girl. I had them in the same tank and I thought that that would be ok for a little while untill they got older. But a couple nights ago it looked like they were mateing...I thought that they only did that when they were older? Do babies do that? Also i'm not sure which is the girl and which is the boy. I have read on them and all but it didn't help me. When I first got them they were the same size. But now two months later only one of them got bigger while the other stayed the same (or so it seems...). The bigger ones shell is a little bigger then 2 inches. The smaller turtles shell is a little smaller then 2 inches. |

to tell them apart did you try seeing if one of them had an "indention" kind sorta like a bowl.... that would be the male... its like that so when they are mating the male would fit on like a "puzzle peice" thats how i tell mine apart...... females do not curve in......did you try that? _________________ what all turtles think-

Its hard to tell for sure the sex of the turtle if they are still babies. I have two RES and was sure that one was a female and the other was a male, then assumed they were both males and now that 3 years have passed i see that they are def both females, lol...
I once thought they were possibly mating but i think what you witnessed was them basking. I went on this forum and asked the same question and found out that RES love to jump on top of one another and bask. Its pretty cute
Naiiluvr, your box turtle is adorable
im jealous i want a box turtle so bad but dont think i can afford to have a new turtle set up for one right now. My two RES are a handful as it is _________________ **Plasmik**

| Male res have long nails. They use them when mounting the females. They also have a longers tail. Once you have seen a male you will always be able to tell them apart once they are mature. |
