I recently upgraded my two RES turtles in a 60 gallon tank and purchased most of the expensive stuff either through Craigslist or Ebay to save a couple of bucks since we all know that a new turtle set up is pretty expensive but very imporant to always do.
I purchased the filter from a buyer on ebay and the person only had it for two months and seems like a very reliable seller so i think that i can trust its not a broken item. However before this filter i only had the Fluval 4 Plus so its a completely different filter set up. I am not sure if i set up the fluval 405 correctly but i watched the dvd instructions video and did everything as followed and when i tried turning it on it made this raddling noise and did not suck in any water. I tried pumping more water into the filter but i am not sure if its even pumping properly because at first i pumped until i saw that the hose was not pushing out air in the water but then when i would turn it on and see it not working and turn it off and pump again i would get air again for a few seconds.
Can anyone help me out with suggestions on what to do? is my filter okay? could it be that i did not set up my filter correctly?
Oh the other thing that i questioned if it caused this problem is that one of compartments that you are suppose to fill it with carbon is empty because i did not have a 4th bag. I purchased a pack of 3 and the person who sold me the filter forgot to mention that he did not have carbon in it so i did not have enough carbon. So they are three slots with carbon and 4 with Biomax.
Please give me some pointers on this situation, i desperately need it because i am clueless as to what the problem is. |
