My turtle tends to put his claw on the filter and hang on when he sleeps. How come he does not use his basking area to rest in the water rather then using the filter? Is this a problem?

No major problem. How big is your turtle? How strong is your filter?

my turtles do it too... they sleep in the water so they use things to hold onto so they can breath. They rea also creatures or habbit... he may like the sound or vibrations from the filter.
