This all depends of certain factors such as amount of and type of filtration, size of tank and number of specimens in the tank. I have a 90 gallon tank with a 200 gallon filter system both mecahnical and biological filtration. I also have 3 power heads for plenty of circulation and airation. I do a 10-15% water change and filter service ever 30 days. I test the water ever 14 days and add aquarium salt to the water. I have been doing this since 2004 with this tank with amazing results and one really healthy female RES.
But to answer your question always go by this rule if you wont swim in it change it. Good tip, test water quality I.E. Amonia levels, Nitrates and Nitrites. I would start with 20% water change every week. But again depends on the capacity of your filter and water quality at the end of each week. |
