Hi everyone.
I'm looking to adopt soon and have some questions before I start to build a habitat.
I'd like to use aquarium sealant to hold a few things together... Is this toxic? Will a turtle chew/nibble on pvc pipe fittings and the sealant?
How old are they if they are the legal 4" long?
Where do I buy baby (tiny) turtles (hopefully not by internet order, but there aren't any breeders that I can find in Sacramento, so... is there another option??)
I'm sure there will bemore questions, but I apreciate your help!
Thanks!

Read what is on the aquarium sealant. Does it say safe for fish, animals, all that? Kind of tough to know without seeing it. They might chew on it, turtles can be quite neurotic at times. Hard to know till you get to know your turtles.
4" long can be as young as 1-3, that's the hard part to know. My boy is about 5 and is only about 6", and my girl is 5 or 6 and is about 8 and a half. *shrug* So bet on no younger than 1, no older than 4.
Most baby turtles I've found are found online. Unless you get it from a specific breeder, there is always a risk buying a baby, like those you might find in less reputable places. Also babies take a lot of time and care, so it's extra responsability.
Hopefully that helped, |

Thanks, that does help.
I think I've decided to get a baby... and a small tank to start, then upgrade.
How long do you think (I know, it depends on the turtle and how fast they grow) a 20 gallon long tank will last with one baby turtle living healthy and happy?? |
