| cute turtle... question... how big of a container do you have him (more than likely a female btw... all signs point to girl... short nails and size) in? it looks small. remember turtles need about 1 gal of water per inch. if (s)he's 5 in he needs to be in about 50 gal of water. Its only fair for the turtle... it would be like you living in a little closet. anyway... cute turtle. |

Thanks for the advice, I am quite OCD about Tucker's care and very aware of his tank size and needs - much to my wife's chagrin ("We just bought him new stuff!"). He is currently in a 35 gallon Rubbermaid container filled probably 25 gallons. He's doing quite well in it and his growth has slowed. Come fall we will be moving up to a 75 gallon aquarium, which should last for a number of years.
His front claws, not visible in the picture, are getting quite long, so I am of the opinion Tucker is a male. He's not a year old yet, so it could wind up either way. =) |
