They can eat anything an adult does but babies need more protien. I feed the littl eones fresh fish pieces. Trout is common here. You can give them prekilled guppies, small amounts of tuna in water, cooked chicken, shreadded carrots and float some romaine or kale in the tank. Most won't be to interested at first but they will catch on. _________________

I've heard conflicting info on the 'cooked chicken' recommendation. I've never tried it, have you any experiencec with the hatchlings eating it?
I've also taken mealworms (superworms) and once the head is liberated from the body, you can remove the meat from the shell (it squeezes right now) and feed that. _________________ 1.0.0 Trachemys scripta scripta----1.0.1 Chrysemys picta picta

Mine loved it. We only eat the breast meat so that is what I cook up for them. _________________

| I have fed Mini cooked chicken... I just cut some of the left over chicken into small slivers and boil it. She didnt seem to like it too much when she was younger... she ate it but it took her a while. but she loves it now. Don't feed that to the turtle as a regular thing tho, its has a high amount of protien and too much can be a bad thing... just do the cooked chicken as a treat every now and then. However, I feed mini turtle sticks, dried shrimp, krill, pellets, carrots, lettus, zuccini.... and there are many plants that are good for your turtle as well. |

| no corn... very very harmful to turtles... the covering of the corn that doesnt digest is too big to safely run through a turtles small digestive track... can cause an intestinal blockage. As for peas Im not sure... I havent ever heard anything about peas... but Mini loves pea pods... |

As babies they are naturally more carnivorous, so if they are reluctant to eat vegetables then its ok to just let it be (dont pressure them like i used to....). And i dont think boiling vegetables is a great idea since some of the nutrients leak out during the process. You can also try small/cut up earthworms or redworms. _________________ Horrible turtle owner.

I have fed grapes before, but one time i gave him too much, and i dont think its good for the digestive system since it completely clouded its tank a yellowish color. So lesson here is one or two per week is enough. _________________ Horrible turtle owner.
