You need to have a filter that is at least two times the power of the size of your tank (eg. 40 gallon tank, buy a filter for 80 gallons). also need uva and uvb lights, a dock or platform for the turtles to bask on under the lights, and some nice plant accessories really add to the whole setup. do NOT use normal aquarium gravel. the turtles will eat it and have intestinal troubles. if you really want to have coveirng on teh bottom of teh tank, i suggest goind to you your home depot or rona or other home hardware store to buy river stones that are used in garden landscaping, they are big enough that the turtles wont eat them, and they look nice. you also should make sure that there is a vet that specializes in reptiles in you area, so that you have somewhere to take your turts if they need any medical help. that is all i can think of right now, but im sure someone else will have something to add to this. good luck wih your babies! _________________ I love my turtles! |
