Hi, this is my first post here. Anyways I have a 50 gal. tank (36"X18"x18") thats currently stocked w/ Green Anoles, Its got a basking light, uv light (w/ Reptisun 10.0) and its got a 2 1/2" layer of organic potting soil....., well ive alwyas wanted a 'land' turtle, so I was wondering if you guys could help me out. What type of land turtle would be happy in a 50 gal. tank? Also im looking for a pet that wouldnt be REALLY expensive...Anyways im looking forward to opinions and thanks in advance.

First things first. A 50 gal tank will be ok to start out with but eventually you will need to upgrade.

Hi there! So i can't tell you a lot of things about your tank measures but what i can tell you is that you could by some Testudo species tortoise(land turtle) which are easy to take care of and are not so expensive e.g testudo greca (greek tortoise) , testudo hermani (herman's tortoise) , testudo horsfieldii (Russian Tortoise, Horsfield's Tortoise). You should also by a tortoise handbook about care ( & hibernation if needed ) , and ask more opinions ! Me myself i have an testudo hermani. ;P Take care! cheers!
