Welcome to a sexually mature male! They do get LONG nails and they use them to get the females attention. Perfectly normal and they don't bug the turt at all. _________________ 3 sulcata,11 red ears,1 yellow belly,1 melanistic slider,1 map,1 western painted,2 3 toe boxies,1 striped mud,2 japanese pond,2 common musk,1 russian,1 ornate wood,1 FL Cooter,7 annam pond,2 back wood,1 Malayan box,1 Red belly |

you can cut the nails of a turtle, but i would only suggest it if they are becoming a problem (breaking and hurting the turtle, scratching themselves or other turtles). you can use the nail clippers for small dogs or cats, just be careful not to cut too close to the foot, you dont want to cut them. but, as tiffany said, they are a flirtation tool. it is perfectly normal for them to get long nails. _________________ I love my turtles! |
