Hi, I'm still new to this whole pet turtle world, but my little RES is so fun to just watch. Now, I named it Horatio, but the more it grows, I'm thinking it's a girl! Oops! I may need to change her name. It's still a baby so I'm not positive. heck, I've got nothing to compare it to so I may never know.
So anyway, he/she's got some quirks... well, I think they are quirks anyway, it could be perfectly normal for him/her to do these things...
*he/she swims right up to the filter and goes vertical and then just relaxes her whole body and the water pushes her to the other side of the tank. She will do this several times.
*he/she swims vertical, she swims like she's doing tricks -spiraling and swaying.
*he/she climbs up onto the decorations in the tank and DIVES off. If I had a video camera, I'd record this action. it's quite remarkable if ya ask me.
Just wanted to share...
Oh, if someone knows a surefire way to tell the sex of my turtle, please let me know. I know that the claws and tail are longer on males, but when I've got nothing to compare it to that knowledge does me no good.
Thanks! |
