Hello all, after a couple of weeks of caring/observing these guys I have a question or two.

1 of my RES (actually his ears are yellow not red (Fred)) Is he a red ear slider?
Well he only has 1 eye. Pet store recommended drops but after a week it is not opening up? Does that mean he has no eye there? This is making it hard for him to find his food to eat. We have to be a little more patient with him to eat and by the way he ONLY likes chicken. Doesn't care for the sticks, or the tuna, will nibble a little on the lettuce but loves the chicken.

They both seem to be doing well, basking, swimming, eating and finally (after 1-1 1/2 weeks) we are seeing poop in the tank.

They are so entertaining! Cool

I am really taken back here,,a one eye turtle, and the sides are yellow, all the ones I have seen are red so I'm not real sure what is up ,, there. There is alot of info on this site, but never come across that one, try turtle girl,or just look around, something doesn't sound right. Rolling Eyes

are they yellow patterns like on the rest of the head of are they like those of a RES but not as red? not all RES are born with the red "ears" but as they grow older, they show up clearer.

About the one eye, is there another eye that the turtle seems not able to open cz it's swollen or something or is it just like skin? do u have a pic? it'll be easier to tell and also to ID the turtle.

for food, mix chicken with the pellets, he'll get used to them soon.

**On the contrary it seems to be slightly sunken in w/like a skin flap. Like if it just didn't open up. I will try to get a good pic of his eye.
