First of all you are very lucky to have access to such a variety of pet. If you also lucky enough to have a space where you can build a large pond that would be awesome. I would still use the formula of 1" of shell = 10 gallon of water. Keep this into consider and you will have a good idea of how large the pond should be. I imagine this pond to be quite large.
You can always choose from the pre-made ones from hardware stores that are sold by the design and gallon capacity. OR you can make your own. If you choose to go this route begin b designing a layout; shape, depth surroundings etc. You'll need a large sheet of 'pond sheets' or 'waterproof material' that will use as a housing to shape this pool. I don't know the exact name of this, but these material are also used to make homemade ice arenas. Once, you have dug a hole for your pond, place this in there, you can place rocks or dirt on the outside surroundings to hold the 'waterproof material' in place.
Add water, water conditioner (if necessary), plants, gravel, rocks etc...
This is not a small project and will take weeks if not months to create, so i suggest using outside source as well.
I hope that gets you a good idea of what is needed. |
