Hey there,
First of all, very nice set up. The home looks like something i'd normally see in pet stores. I particially like the center tree thump and how you maximized your water area with the Zoomed dock on the far right width ways.
You already ahead of most beginners with your set up. My guess with your water being foggy still is probably due to the gravel. Did you wash and rinse them well enough before you placed it in there? Gravel requires a fair amount of cleaning and rinsing over and over to get rid of the cloudiness that occures once you pour water over it. If these picture was taken just post-water input, wait for the filter to do its job by cleaning most of the particles out and for the sandy water to settle.
Make sure you water temperature is precise so that your painted turtle will enjoy the comfort of it. That may be a reason why it is avoiding it.
As for treats, live crickets and feeders are great. You can always try veggies such as lettuce and carrots small enough for it to fit in its mouth.
Yes, your baby will eventually grow larger and even grow out of this tank.
One question: Are you sure your tank is 20g? It sure looks larger. What is its dimensions? |

that is a 20gallon long, dimensions should be 30L x 12W x 12.5H
try using filter floss, i use gravel about the same size but it wasn't cloudy like that even after i put water in. i think it's your filter, that's a 'beautiful' filter but it's not the greatest filter for cleaning. try floss or a polishing pad, pretty cheap at petsmart |
