| I just put a new filter in my turtle tank a few days ago. It's one of the cascading kind. It is supposed to keep the tank cleaner than before. The water is cloudy and it even has a foamy looking substance around the filter. I used to clean my tank every 5-7 days and I was hoping to get like two weeks out of this new filter. What am I doing wrong? I have two res that are about 3' long, are they really that hard to keep up with? I have been a proud turtle owner for about 3 months now. I just want to do what is best for them. Any suggestions? |

What size tank is it? For two res 3 inches long I recomend at least a 60 gallon and then a filter for 120 gallons. Filters are rated for fish and they put out alot less waste then turt's!
If the tank is big enough as are is the filter then...
Leave the tank to cycle like a fish tank would do. Do not drain any water out of it and just leave it alone, after a few days it will clear! |
