Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum. We have had a Mississippi Mud turtle for abt 3 months. I don't know exactly how old he is, but his shell is about 3 inches across. When we got him, his shell was clean and pretty. Now he has grown a lot of green algae. I've tried brushing him with an old toothbrush, but the algae is still thick and doesn't come off. I change his water regularly and clean his tub. I understand a little algae is OK, but this seems excessive. I keep his water at abt 78-80 degrees F. I assume the algae comes from the water.
Is there any way to safely remove most of the algae and/or keep it from growing so thick? Thanks for any help. Barb |

hi there and welcome to the board!
I'm afraid my only answer to that would be to use an old toothbrush, but you've already tried that!
Maybe someone else here could help you.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Would love to see some pics of your new baby though! _________________ Have a nice day, and remember to smile and be nice to all! |
