I recently entered this squirrel picture I took into a bank calendar photo contest. I won $100 and also was invited to a winner's luncheon.
Not bad, when you consider over 1000 pictures were entered and only 13 were chosen as winners.
I think I won the judges over with this pictures because of it's "cuteness factor!"

I use a Panasonic DMC-FZ20. It has a powerful 12X zoom lens which let's me get close up shots from far away. Here's a picture of my camera. The squirrels in the picture I took were wild animals.
