Ok, so my two turtles that I have had for 15 years are starting to change. One is male and the other is female and just recently my male has started to lunge and snap at the female's face. It really upsets me because this has never happened before. I can't afford another tank to put him in and I'm getting upset because I think I may have to give him away I know that sometimes the males get aggressive when they want to mate, do you guys think that could be what's going on here? The female is not aggressive and doesn't even stand up for herself when he does this to her. She does have an advantage though, being the female she is bigger and could probably take him if necessary, but I'm at a loss. It isn't a constant a thing though which makes me believe that he may get over it...I don't really know though. If anyone has any advice please let me know. I'm at a loss, I mean after all this time why now? I don't get it. |

U can buy a rubbermaid container for one of yr RESs.
Rubbermaid container is much more cheaper than tank so u dont have give up yr male RES.
BTW, how big is yr RES? |

| But is a rubbermaid container big enough for him? I just want to give him the space he desserves. My turtles are pretty large in size. My female is about 6 inches long and like five inches wide. My male is the smaller one, he's more like four inches long and about 3 and 1/2 inches wide. |

Yes rubbermaid has many different size boxes or tubs as I call them....also the tub doesnt have to be a rubbermaid brand, i see them at dollar stores for about 3.00 now a days....and they are quite large.....easily can hold your turtles size

| are great tanks, this is what i have, and also mason/cement mixing tubs are cheap (around $25) and easy to find (home depot, lowes). they are larges enough to add all of the turtle necessities. i have the same problem with a male RES. he keeps biting the females neck. I just separated them and came here looking for ideas of what to do. I dont want to get rid of him because ive had them for almost 7 years, but i feel bad for the female. i am on my way to get a mason/ cement mixing tub to put him in. but that also means, another filter, heater, basking lights, and flagstone for basking area..... neverending |

if they are that old it is most probably he wants to mate and she refuses to let him like if she moves or shifts when hes near her that might be it if it continues for 2-5 more days let me know _________________
glitter-graphics.com |
