The Aussie's don;t seem to be taking the whole situation too well either.
Some people have ven started to cut tails off Stingrays as some sort of act of 'revenge... I'm sure the RSPCA will have a field day.

I sent this to the family via the Queensland webpage: http://www.qld.gov.au/announcements/steve_irwin.html
FAREWELL TO THE HUNTER
How do you say goodbye to a good friend?, words escape me, he was full of energy and passion,
he had a contageous personallity, no matter how down you’d be feeling, all you had to do is listen
to him talk about his beloved animal friends and you couldn’t help but be riveted to your seat, he
could take the ordinary and make it seem like it was the first time you ever saw it, he had a way
of teaching you without you feeling like you were learning anything at all.
Although I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person, the way he talked, it felt like I had
known him all my life, it didn’t matter to me that he didn’t know me personally, all I knew
was that he made me feel like I was part of the action, like I was there by his side.
He will be sorely missed by all that were touched by his message of wildlife conservation,
he will remain in our hearts for as long as there are stars in the sky.
Sincerely...
