Hello. First of all I am so glad that there are others turtle owners out there. I have two Sliders Tessy who is 18 years old and Timmy who is 15. They have been a huge part of our family life. I started out with Tessy with my kids were small. Having several turtles when I was a kid, I really wasn't expecting her to last this long. After a while she out grew her turtle bowl and went to a small tank. After a few years we ended up with a 80 gallon tank and Timmy. They are like husband and wife. He wants it and she runs away. 
I am enjoying your post and I am looking forward in meeting all of you. Especially those who have more experience in Turtle Behavior.

welcome to the board this is so cool, got any pix for the couple and their setup? did they ever "make it" to eggs in those years?

Good Morning
Yes, we have had eggs several times but unfortunately the eggs are laid in the water. From what I understand they need sand. To answer your next question about pictures. We must have a few pictures around here, if not I will see what I can do. Tessy is the largest of the two, about 8 1/2 inches across and Timmy about 6 inches across. |

Welcome to the board! I had no idea the life span captive turtles have until I found this website! And I've said it before, but it's so true, this site probably saved our turtles life.  Thank goodness I found it!
