I have 2 RES for about 3 years. One (Kaoro) is a bit older than the other (not much, a couple of months) but is much bigger than the youger one (Missau).
Missau hasn't been eating much... I feed them with shrimps and dry dog food, like the vet advised. Kaoro eats both things, but Missau only eats the shrimps, and she's not eating much right now... Sad

I know it's winter, but they have warm water (they even have two heaters to heat the whole water) and the water is clean because I feed them in a separate place, like the vet said to. I don't know, maybe the place is too small...

Are they adults yet? I'm feeding them every other day, because if I feed them every day they won't eat much...

Thank you!

Hmm..

This is scary-

So the OP has been feeding the RES a steady diet of shrimp and dogfood.

It is amazing how much 5yrs has changed the amount of information available to us, and how much that has facilitated further knowledge of how to properly (or at least better) care for a turt.

Obviously the more information someone can provide, the better input/response will be.

I would want to know how big they are in relation to each other because the first thing that jumps to mind is a difference in Gender, which could account for the size discrepancy.

I would want to see pics to look for pyramiding, obesity, etc which I would suspect from the diet (and I would further assume it was not a herp vet who recommended it)

I would want to see pics of the housing to address the mental wellbeing of the turt. Are they getting enough UVA/UVB, do they have room to swim, do they have something to stimulate their curiosity, etc...

Overall a turt slowing down eating in the winter would not necessarily bother me, but what are the specifics of the slowdown. Have they gone days without eating, or is it weeks? months?

Hopefully everything turned out well for Dukesa...
